Powerwave Technologies Introduces Integrated Transceiver & MCPA Module For W-CDMA

These new products are the first in a Series of Integrated W-CDMA Transceiver and MCPA Modules for 3G.

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Feb. 25, 2004 - Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV) today announced it is delivering pre-production quantities of the first in a series of integrated, W-CDMA transceiver and MCPA (Multi-Carrier Power Amplifier) modules for 3G (Third Generation) base stations.

“The integrated W-CDMA transceiver module we announced today utilizes our digitally linearised power amplifier architecture which we first demonstrated in March 2002,” stated Bruce C. Edwards, President and Chief Executive Officer of Powerwave Technologies. “This proprietary architecture further demonstrates Powerwave as a leading provider of integrated base station products to the OEM marketplace.”

The self-contained module includes a digitally linearised transmitter and MCPA, diversity receivers and a digital signal interface that supports the Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) industry initiative. Future planned developments include a family of radio modules that will interface directly to existing 3G and emerging CPRI and OBSAI base stations.
