Powerwave Enables Cost Effective and Efficient Wireless Network Management with NetWay Solution Suite

Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global leader in end-to-end wireless coverage and capacity solutions, today introduced its NetWay solution suite, providing an answer to runaway operating expenses and maintenance requirements associated with today’s highly complex wireless networks.
The suite is a family of network-aware hardware and software that networks tower mounted amplifiers, cellular repeaters, public safety repeaters, distributed repeater systems and auxiliary cell site equipment, enabling cost effective and efficient remote management and network optimization. The new offerings comprise three specific solution areas: NetWay for Antenna Management, NetWay for Repeater Management and NetWay for Site Management.
Faced with burgeoning subscriber volume across multi-carrier networks and the introduction of new wireless service offerings across multiple platforms, operators are realizing the increase in potential points of network failure and maintenance costs are rising exponentially. Additionally, they face intense quality of service demands, making “down time” and poor performance unacceptable.
Powerwave's NetWay solutions enable efficiencies and cost reductions in areas such as field operations and power associated with equipment cooling, as well as areas such as remote antenna adjustment, eliminating costly truck rolls and risky tower climbs.

The flagship offering in the NetWay solution suite is NetWay Vision, a software package that provides a server-based centralized interface to manage more than 10,000 network elements. NetWay Vision features fault management for real-time error detection, complete configuration and inventory management functionality, performance management and secure system administration and is based on open standards for easy integration with multiple operating systems and other vendors’ SNMP-enabled devices.
NetWay Vision provides network operators with a number of key features, such as easy installation and configuration, auto-discovery of network components, server clustering support with load balancing functionality, and remote client access. The NetWay Vision platform also features remote software downloading, network data collection, network configuration and configuration back-up capabilities, and is easily integrated into existing security and IT infrastructure.
NetWay Hardware Solutions
Powerwave’s NetWay solution suite also features a number of hardware solutions, which are fully integrated with NetWay Vision.
• The NetWay 8100 connects auxiliary equipment housed at cell sites, including power and cooling systems, and backhaul equipment, forming a site network accessible through a single IP address (node) to make remote management possible via NetWay Vision. It is AISG v1.1 and v2.0 compliant to control tower top devices such as RET antennas and Tower Mounted Amplifiers.
• The NetWay 7000 is a master control unit that enables remote management of RET antennas from the base of the tower, eliminating dangerous climbs and costly personnel deployments for adjustment.
• The ISG is a key component that supports Ethernet IP and packet data interface for Powerwave repeaters for cost effective and reliable IP and SNMP connection. It is field upgradeable and has GPS functionality for moving repeaters, such as Powerwave’s new in-train repeaters. The ISG interface board can manage numerous repeaters, and when integrated with Powerwave’s Netway Vision, offers a complete solution for remote network management.
