Powerwave Introduces New Triple-Band Antenna with Integrated Remote Electrical Tilt
The industry’s only triple-band iRET antenna to offer three separate RET motors for streamlined servicing and reduced downtime
CTIA WIRELESS 2009, LAS VEGAS, Booth #6002 - Apr. 02, 2009 -
Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global leader in end-to-end wireless coverage and capacity solutions, today introduced its triple-band integrated remote electrical tilt (iRET) antenna, adding to the company’s family of high performance, reliable infrastructure offerings aimed at helping operators lower costs and increase network performance.
The triple-band iRET antenna is a high-performance triple-band antenna platform offering coverage for full low band (824–960 MHz) and two full high bands (1710-2170 MHz), enabling customers to leverage three different frequencies in one antenna.
The product is the newest member of Powerwave’s innovative iRET antenna line, which integrates remote electrical tilt functionality under the antenna radome for enhanced performance and improved aesthetics, while eliminating installation and reliability issues that can occur with typical exterior RET modules.
The product is the industry’s only triple-band iRET antenna on the market to offer three separate motors that are field swappable for streamlined servicing and improved uptime. Separate RET modules for the lower and upper bands are integrated into a standard housing with physical dimensions equivalent to non-RET antennas, making Powerwave’s offering ideal for customers interested in co-siting, capacity expansion or upgrading to an antenna with iRET capabilities.
Additional features include an absolute position sensor; in the event of a power loss at the site, the sensor detects the down-tilt position of each antenna, eliminating the need for recalibration. For increased optimization, an extended tilt range is implemented in all Powerwave antennas – and to further simplify onsite adjustments, the new iRET offerings feature a knob for manual adjustment and a visual indicator for down-tilt position.
“The unique design of our new triple-band iRET antenna with independent RET motors gives operators a flexible, swappable component approach to reduce site downtime,” said Ronald J. Buschur, president and CEO, Powerwave Technologies. “Leveraging our NetWayTM for Antenna Management software offering, operators can evaluate capacity requirements and adjustments can be easily made to improve coverage remotely for efficient and cost-effective monitoring and management of antenna networks.”
Powerwave’s iRET antenna modules support Antenna Interface Standards Group (AISG) 1.1, AISG 2.0 and Ericsson proprietary software.
