Powerwave to Introduce New Wireless Solutions for Next Generation Networks at Mobile World Congress 2010

GSMA Mobile World Congress 2010, BARCELONA, Booth 8b109 - Feb. 12, 2010 - Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global leader in end-to-end wireless coverage and capacity solutions, today announced it will be introducing new innovative infrastructure solutions for next generation wireless networks at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2010, in Barcelona, Spain, Feb. 15-18 -- an event that is expected to draw nearly 50,000 wireless industry professionals from more than 175 countries.

Powerwave will introduce a new lineup of wireless infrastructure components specifically optimized to support forthcoming European Digital Dividend frequencies (790-960 MHz). These include:

• Antenna Family: Single-band antennas covering 790-960 MHz, multi-band antennas covering 790-960 MHz/1710-2170 MHz/2300-2700 MHz.

• Twin 700 Digital Dividend EMEA Tower Mounted Amplifier: Improves base station receive sensitivity, reduces dropped call rates and improves uplink data rates for improved user experience; builds on Powerwave’s reputation of offering the most field proven TMA design in the industry with more than 1.7 million installed since 1994, providing customers with a low total cost of ownership over the life of the product.

• LTE Diplexer Cross-band Combiner: Ultra efficient, two channel (698-894 MHz/1710-2170 MHz) high/low port Cross-band Combiner allows European Digital Dividend LTE (4G) signals to be combined onto a common antenna or cable feed lines with existing DCS and/or UMTS 2G/3G systems; offers one of the industry’s lowest guaranteed insertion loss levels and highest guaranteed RF power handling, along with leading isolation and inter modulation distortion for optimum signal quality.

Powerwave will also unveil flexible, turn-key solutions to support wireless coverage in a range of venues including subways, airports, office buildings, shopping malls and stadiums. New product introductions include:

• Fibre Base Unit: A flexible and modular platform for 2G, 3G and 4G distributed antenna systems (DAS).

• Nexus FT Repeater Family: Designed for GSM, WCDMA and LTE deployments in EMEA.

Additionally, the company will announce a new suite of wireless antenna and base station solutions to address the needs of European operators deploying 4G 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE™) service at the 2600 MHz spectrum. These products include:

• Single- and Multi-port Antennas Optimized for 2.6 GHz LTE Deployments: Offering high efficiency, low interference, and superior gain per length, Powerwave’s new family of single- and multi-port antennas cover the 2300-2700 MHz frequency band, enabling EMEA operators to quickly and cost-effectively deploy new services leveraging 4G LTE.

• 2.6GHz LTE, DCS and UMTS Triplexer: Powerwave’s LTE Triplexer is a three-channel (1710-1880 MHz/1920-2170 MHz/2300-2690 MHz) multi-port cross-band combiner that allows European 2.6 GHz 4G LTE signals to be combined onto a common antenna or cable feed lines with existing DCS and/or UMTS 2G/3G systems.

• Twin 2.6GHz LTE Tower Mounted Amplifier: Powerwave’s new Twin 2.6 GHz Tower Mounted Amplifier has been updated to support forthcoming 2500-2570 MHz LTE frequencies in EMEA.

Powerwave will also be announcing two new additions to its popular OS Micro line of MCPA Booster Systems, designed to help operators improve network efficiency, site revenue and call statistics. These include:

• OS-1 2100 MHz UMTS and 900 MHz Single MCPA Booster Cabinet: For use with WCDMA (UMTS) IMT/AWS and 900 MHz GSM frequencies for 2G and 3G deployments, the OS-1 provides a high power and highly efficient solution with remote monitoring and configurability in a compact package.

• OS-3 Multi-band Three-channel Booster Cabinet: A multi-band booster solution in a single cabinet, the three-channel OS-3 offering is ideal as an overlay solution to boost 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2100 MHz in EMEA and 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz in North America.
